Screen printing nylon bags is the method we use for printed bags, and it is why small and medium orders are practical. You do not need thousands of bags to get your name on them. A run of 50, 100 or 500 can be worth printing. This guide explains how it compares with other methods, what colours are possible and what to expect.
It also explains flexography, often called flexo, a method you may hear about from large packaging companies, and why it is a poor match for small orders.

What screen printing nylon bags means
In screen printing, ink is pressed through a fine stencil mesh onto the bag, one colour at a time. You do not need to know more than that to order. What matters to you is what it allows: sharp, solid colours, good readability and practical small runs.
How many colours can you print?
We print nylon bags in 1, 2, 3 or 4 colours. Most customers choose 1 colour, usually black, because it is clear, simple and the easiest to keep consistent. Each extra colour adds cost and needs careful artwork. For one-colour orders, our usual turnaround is about 5 days. Confirm the date when you order, because bigger runs and more colours can take longer.
| Colours | Best for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| 1 colour | Most businesses: name, logo and phone number | Most popular choice; clean and clear |
| 2 colours | A logo with a second brand colour | Needs artwork prepared as two separate solid colours |
| 3 to 4 colours | Logos that need more colour | More cost; fine detail and gradients do not suit this method |

Screen printing vs flexo for nylon bags
Flexography is an industrial method used by large packaging companies. Published guides, including CustomInk’s bag printing guide, describe it as suited to very large orders, with high setup costs and new printing plates for every design change. Minimum quantities differ between suppliers, but they run into the thousands.
| Screen printing | Flexo | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical quantity | Small and medium runs, including 50 to 500 bags | Large industrial runs, often in the thousands |
| Setup | Practical for small orders | High setup, with plates for each design |
| Design changes | Easy between orders | Costly, because new plates are needed |
| Colours | Typically 1 to 4 on our bags | Many colours possible at scale |
| Best for | Small businesses, events, new brands | Big companies with fixed designs and high volume |
We do not offer flexo. It is mainly for very large orders.
There are other approaches, such as large-format or digital printing, but the right choice depends on the bag material and your quantity. For most small businesses, screen printing is the practical choice. Ask your printer which method they use before you order.
Artwork for screen printing nylon bags
The best artwork for this method is a vector file, because it gives clean edges and separate solid colours. Photos, gradients and soft shadows do not suit it. See our guide on vector artwork for nylon bags, and our print-ready PDF.
